Relay is a project planning and team collaboration app that lets you organize boards, tasks, notes, and canvas sketches, and message your teammates.
Information We Collect
Account information. Relay uses Sign in with Apple to create your account. Apple shares your name and email address with Relay only the first time you sign in, and we store this on your device to identify you within the app. Relay never sees or stores your Apple Account password.
Your content. Boards, tasks, notes, comments, canvas drawings, and any team members you add (names, emails, and optional photos) are stored only on your device. Relay does not operate a server or database that receives this content.
Profile photos. If you add a profile photo for yourself or a teammate, it's stored only on your device and is never uploaded anywhere.
Team messages. If you use Relay's Team Messaging feature, the text of your messages, your name, and timestamps are sent through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) so they can be delivered to teammates you've invited into a shared conversation. This is the only information Relay transmits off your device, and it's processed by Apple's iCloud infrastructure under Apple's own privacy practices, not by a server Relay operates.
Third-Party Services
Relay does not use advertising services, tracking technologies, analytics platforms, or third-party marketing tools.
Relay uses two Apple services: Sign in with Apple, for authentication, and iCloud/CloudKit, for team messaging. Both are governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
How We Use Information
Information is used solely to operate the app: to identify your account, display your content, deliver messages to the teammates you choose to message, and show reminder notifications you set for your own tasks — which are scheduled entirely on your device and never leave it.
Data Sharing & Selling
Relay does not sell your information and does not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data Retention & Deletion
Content stored on your device — boards, tasks, notes, team members, and photos — remains there until you delete it in the app or delete Relay itself. Signing out clears your local session but does not delete this on-device content. To request deletion of messages sent through Team Messaging, contact us below.
Children's Privacy
Relay does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Data Security
Because Relay does not operate its own servers, there is no company-run database of your information to secure. Your on-device content is protected by standard iOS/macOS app sandboxing, and messages sent through Team Messaging are protected by Apple's iCloud security. You're responsible for securing your device and Apple Account.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This privacy policy may be updated if Relay's features or data practices change. Any updated version will be posted on this page.
