Recital

Recital is a practice companion for pianists. It helps you track the pieces you're working on, log practice sessions, view sheet music, record practice takes, and set goals.

Information We Collect

Everything you create in the app — your pieces, practice sessions, goals, notes, imported sheet music, and audio recordings — is stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, this data may also sync to your personal iCloud account (Apple CloudKit) so it stays available across your devices. That data lives in your private iCloud database, which the developer cannot access. Recital does not sell or share personal information.

Personalization entered during onboarding (for example your name) is stored locally on your device.

Accounts

Creating an account is optional. If you create one, your email address and a securely hashed password (or your Apple ID credential, if you use Sign in with Apple) are processed and stored by Supabase, the app's authentication provider, solely to let you sign in on your devices. Your plain-text password is never stored. Practice data is not stored on the account server — it stays on your device and in your private iCloud.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account, which removes the account record from the authentication server and erases all local data. Supabase processes authentication data according to its own privacy policy.

Microphone

Recital asks for microphone access only so you can record audio of your own practice takes. Recordings are saved on your device (and in your private iCloud account if sync is enabled) and are never uploaded to the developer or any third party. You can delete recordings at any time from within the app.

Camera

Recital asks for camera access only if you use the score scanner to import paper sheet music. Scanned pages become PDFs stored with your other scores on your device. Images are not sent anywhere.

Notifications

If you enable practice reminders, Recital schedules local notifications on your device. Reminder settings never leave your device.

Public-Domain Score Library

When you browse or download scores from the built-in public-domain library, the app fetches files directly from the Mutopia Project (mutopiaproject.org). These are ordinary file downloads; no personal information is included in the requests.

Third-Party Services

Recital does not use advertising services, tracking technologies, analytics platforms, or third-party marketing tools.

If Apple services such as iCloud or Sign in with Apple are used, Apple may process data according to Apple's own privacy policy.

Children's Privacy

Recital does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.

Data Security

Because Recital does not collect personal information on its own servers, the app does not maintain a database of user information. Users are responsible for securing their device and Apple account.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete any piece, session, recording, or score from within the app. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data; data synced to iCloud can be removed via the app before uninstalling or through your iCloud settings.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This privacy policy may be updated if Recital's features or data practices change. Any updated version will be posted on this page.
